Philippe Lorthios

Philippe Lorthios was born in 1955 in Hénin-Liétard. He started his musical studies in the Harmony Band of Harnes. He entered the National Conservatory of Lille under the instruction of Claude Bourrez and followed at the Paris Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique under Master Pichaureau. Certified as a teacher of trombone, he worked as an instructor at the Regional National Conservatory of Aix-en-Provence and then at the National School of Music of Tourcoing in 1980.

Formerly the trombone soloist for the Opera of the North, he performs regulary with the National Orchestra of Lille.

He became the conductor of the Tourcoing Harmony Orchestra in 1982, and he was conductor for the Music School and the Municipal Harmony band of Lesquin from 1985 to 1997.

His passion for brass bands led him, in 1992, to create the brass ensemble that is now known as the Hauts-de-France Brass Band.
